I'm curious about what makes organizations work in the 21st century. Work and business have changed and continue to change dramatically. All that is solid not only melts into air, but the air itself morphs into a virtual image. Executives across the world know that sensing, shaping, and enabling change - much more than simply 20th Century change management - have become core competencies for organizations. In this environment, the role of change agent changes. I believe that the times call for a "changing" agent: someone who through a long-term relationship and well-sequenced interventions can co-evolve with a client, discarding recipes and methodologies when these get in the way of grounded and reflective practice.
With over 20 years experience in the global financial services industry and having assessed more than 80 private and public organizations in the Americas, I have developed a good working knowledge-base of positive practices. As an executive officer and internal agent of change for a Fortune 100 company, I took an active part in ambitious change programs within a large and complex organization. And stayed around long enough to see what worked and didn't. And I temper this experience with the intuition that the past is no longer a steady predictor for the future.
With graduate studies in engineering, the social sciences, and management, I round out my experience with the theoretical lenses of several diverse disciplines. I put to practice this knowledge and tested it extensively in the field for eight years as a Senior Examiner with the US Baldrige National Performance Excellence Program. I have authored articles on business process management, reengineering, and change management and I'm also a regular speaker and presenter at various conferences, including NSHMBA, ASQ, Florida Sterling in the US and various professional associations in Mexico and the Caribbean. In my spare time, I help an innovative, performing arts organization obtain and manage the funds to keep performing (www.miamilightproject.com)
